In Spain, “still no explanation” after the giant power outage

The electricity is back on without a hitch, but the Spanish want to know more about the massive power outage that occurred across the country on April 28. No official explanation has yet been given.

"Spain has found the light again, but the Spanish are still plunged into darkness," notes the conservative website El Español , due to a lack of information about the gigantic power outage that left them without electricity for several hours on April 28.

Two days after the blackout, “still no explanation,” laments El Periódico de Catalunya in Barcelona. The center-left newspaper nevertheless emphasizes “the irreproachable responsibility with which citizens behaved […], with no major incidents” having been reported across the country. According to the Spanish press, however, at least five deaths appear to be attributable to this major power outage.

"All those responsible for providing explanations to citizens have begun to adopt defensive positions in the face of a possible distribution of blame," El País complains . "No one, however, has been able to answer the main question: how did the fuses across the entire Iberian Peninsula blow?" the center-left newspaper protests.
